We are seeking a physicist (Ph.D.) as second instrument responsible for the thermal time-of-flight spectrometer TOPAS at the research reactor FRM II in Garching close to Munich.

Kennziffer: TOPAS/2009

Job description: Joining the development of the thermal time-of-flight spectrometer TOPAS at the research reactor FRM II in Garching as second instrument responsible, in particular for the development of a software for display and treatment of single crystal data; commissioning of the instrument and participation in the user operation; contribution to the research programme of the institute in the area magnetism and correlated electron systems with own experiments.

What we expect from you: Interest in scientific and technical problems; readiness to cooperate with groups of the research centre and external users; mobility (contact to other institutes and companies, experiments at large scale facilities); experience in the development of complex software. Welcome are experiences in the area of neutron or x-ray scattering as well as in solid state physics, in particular in the field of magnetism or highly correlated transition metal oxides.

Location: Garching close to Munich

The position is limited for initially three years.
