First spin-echo on the JCNS time-of-flight neutron spin-echo spectrometer at SNS

Just three years, seven months and nine days after starting of the construction of the time-of-flight spin echo spectrometer by the staff of the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science Outstation at SNS, the team around project leader Michael Ohl obtained the first spin echo. This is a great success and now opens door for the commissioning period of this unique instrument for scientific usage. A workshop held on November 4-5 2009 in Oak Ridge will review the current state of neutron spin echo spectroscopy and discuss the expected capabilities of this new instrument and its scientific future.
